*What is Pioneer?
Pioneer is a kind of way (format) in which you can play Magic the Gathering. Other formats include Standard, Modern, Commander, Legacy, ... You can play it with 2 players and a game takes about 20 minutes. To play Pioneer you use a minimum of 60 cards in your deck. You may also put more cards in your deck, but you must be able to shuffle your deck without help. With Pioneer, you also use a sideboard. That may consist of a maximum of 15 cards. You may never have more than 4 times the same card in your deck and sideboard. This rule does not apply to basic lands. The Pioneer format is between Standard and Modern. It is an ideal format for players who want to continue playing with their favorite cards after leaving Standard without making the jump to Modern. Pioneer is a non-rotating format, meaning that all cards remain valid at all times, even when new sets come out. Pioneer Challenger Decks are an easy way to introduce players to the format, as each deck of 60 cards is ready to play immediately.
