Up or Down? is a clever and fast-paced hand management card game by Capstone Games where players build card columns that must either ascend or descend in value.
How do you play?
Each player starts with a hand of three cards. On your turn, play a card between two adjacent cards in the shared market (a row of six), following the ascending order. Then take one of the two neighboring cards and add it to one of your personal columns (you can have up to three). Once a column has two cards, you decide whether it will go up or down. If a card doesn’t fit your column, you may wipe it—removing the entire column, which is then scored later. Timing, market manipulation, and smart color grouping are key.
Why is this game a recommendation?
Up or Down? is easy to learn but offers rich tactical choices. Players must balance short-term plays and long-term strategy as they build efficient color-based columns. With quick turns and accessible rules, it’s great for families and abstract strategy lovers alike.
