Children

Choosing the right game for a child is not always easy. Certainly don't choose a game that is too difficult or too easy, but roughly at the child's level. The age indication on a game usually gives the right direction, but don't be blinded by it. Some children already play many games and can therefore handle a game for older children. Other children need a little longer to master a game and may have more fun with a game for younger children.

You can also take the interests of the child into account when choosing games. Many children's games are about pirates, princesses, cars, dragons or dinosaurs. If the child is fascinated by one of these subjects, then the board game will also quickly appeal to them!

In addition, you can also take into account the personality of the child. For example, a child who has difficulty sitting still will enjoy an active game more. If children are not yet able to handle losing, it is always a good idea to start with a cooperative game. Children who need more structure and support should not be given too hectic a game. 

Finally, make sure you like the game (or in case of a gift a game of which you know the parents of the child will also play). A game, especially when the children are young, should be played together. It is called a party game for a reason. It would be a shame to buy a game that will not end up on the table.
